1965 Ford Mustang Fastback 1965 Factory GT

This 1965 Mustang Fastback is a true factory-built GT car. Body is excellent and interior is very good. Mechanically the car is ready to go and has a very useful upgrade in the form of a Tremec 5-speed transmission. The tunnel was not cut for this installation and the shifter is in the original position and looks factory correct

Exterior: The car was repainted in a single stage paint about 30 years ago. The color and the shine have held up well, but as you would expect there are several stone chips which have been touched up. Originally the car was green. There's no sign of any previous accident damage and all the body panels appear to be original to the car.

All of the trim is in good condition and still bright. The glass is in good condition with no fogging and no cracks.

Mechanicals: The original spec A Code, 4 barrel 289 starts and runs well with good oil pressure and good water temperature. It pulls well and is very flexible and responsive. There are no weird noises nor does it have any major leaks.

The 5-speed transmission is smooth and quiet. It shifts well in and out of all gears. The gearing is well-matched to the rear end offering good acceleration and excellent high speed cruising. It is topped off by a slender T shifter handle that looks like the ones found in the Shelby GT350.

The car has non-power disc brakes in the front and drum in the rear. The brake pedal has a good solid feel and the car stops in a straight line. You couldn't ask much more out of 1960's brakes.

Suspension: She drives well and tracks true with the original spec GT suspension. Everything feels very tight for a 1965 Mustang.

Interior: Rallye Pack! This GT is equipped with an original 8000 RPM tach in the Rallye Pack. She has an all black Pony interior. This is a factory Pony interior and not an addition by later owner. The front seats seats are in good condition with no abrasions or tears. Two seems have come undone in the rear seat. We hope to have this repaired soon.
